DURHAM, N.C. (AP) — A North Carolina police department is investigating after a man was killed in an early morning shooting.

The Durham Police Department issued a news release saying that officers arrived at the scene around 2 a.m. Sunday. They found a man lying in the parking lot of an apartment complex with multiple gunshot wounds.

He was pronounced dead at the scene in the Northern part of the city. His name and age weren't immediately released.

The Herald-Sun reports that there have been at least 13 killings in Durham this year through the end of June, representing an increase from the previous year.
