James Dailey, Jr., 52, Baraboo

May 1, 2019

James P. Dailey, Jr., 52, of Baraboo, lost his short, but courageous battle with metastatic melanoma on Tuesday April 23, 2019. Jim was surrounded by his loving parents, life partner, and son as his soul departed his earthly body.

Jim was born to parents James “Pat” and Kathy Dailey on Sept. 17, 1966, in Monroe.

Jim grew up in the desert of Arizona, and spent his teen years in the Alaska wilderness, as well as time in South Carolina with his father, moving to Baraboo, with his life partner and then 1-year-old son in 2001.

For most of his adult life, Jim worked construction and roofing. At the time of his death he was employed at LSC Communications in Baraboo.

Jim enjoyed spending time doing yard work, bonfires, bragging about his grandbabies, and not to forget the ever constant coozie with Miller Lite. He was an avid St. Louis/Los Angeles Rams, Packers, and anything Badgers, Brewers, and Cubs fan.

Jim is survived by his parents Pat Dailey and Kathy Mullarkey; life partner Brenda Christen; sons, Austin Dailey and Jason Howard; daughter, Danielle Buttel (Ryan Anderson); grandchildren, Madison Howard and Kinsley and Bryce Anderson; great-grandmothers, Dorothy Turner and Elinor Dailey of Freeport, Illinois; and several aunts, uncles; nieces, nephews; and cousins; and brother-in-law Darrin (Sandy) Christen, all of who meant a great deal to him.

He is preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Donald Mullarkey; maternal step-grandmother, Phyllis Mullarkey; maternal step-grandfather, Robert Turner; paternal grandfather, Leo Dailey; uncle Jay Mullarkey; aunt Mary Dailey; and cousins, Jared Mullarkey and Aryl Dailey; mother-in-law Nancy Bricklen; and father-in-law Richard Christen.

A funeral service for Jim’s cremains will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 11, 2019, at Our Savior Lutheran Church, 1201 Draper St., Baraboo.

A celebration of life/benefit will be held from 12:30-6 p.m. Saturday, May 11, 2019, at Chaser’s Bar, 620 W. Pine St. Baraboo.
