Convicted felon accused of paying with counterfeit bill

February 8, 2019

MONROE - An Easton man, fresh out of prison, was arrested again after police said he paid for a coffee and doughnut with a counterfeit bill.

Matthew Gromiller, 47, of Bayberry Lane, was charged Friday with third-degree forgery. He was released after posting $20,000 bond.

Court records show that Gromiller had recently been released from prison after serving a prison term for drug charges.

Police said Gromiller pulled into the drive-thru at the Dunkin Donuts on Route 25 and paid for his $4 order with a $100 bill. They said the bill was determined to be counterfeit.
