Storm Knocks Out Power at SkyDome
TORONTO (AP) _ A thunderstorm knocked out power at SkyDome on Sunday, an hour before the Toronto Blue Jays and New York Yankees were to play.
With about 5,000 fans in the stands, the SkyDome went black for a few moments before the emergency lights came on. The roof was closed because of the rain.
It wasn’t immediately known whether the game would be delayed. The afternoon game was scheduled to start after a ceremony honoring longtime Blue Jays broadcaster Tom Cheek.
Cheek called 4,306 consecutive regular-season games for the team. The streak spanned 27 years and was broken in June when he left the team to attend his father’s funeral.
