Letter to the editor: Hold a revote, and change the law
Dan Haar had a column in The Post on Feb. 14 concerning the wrong ballots in Stratford’s 120th House district.
He wrote: “The Democrats see it differently. They agree that not re-voting disenfranchises 75 people. But a special election do-over would bring out just a fraction of the 10,561 voters who showed up in the 120th.
“We couldn’t disenfranchise the 10,000 people who had already voted,” D’Agostino said.”
At first read that made sense to me but then I thought that if those 10,000 don’t vote it would be their choice not to vote. The 75 weren’t given a choice and that is the difference. We all know that the truth of the matter is that the Democrats don’t want to take a chance to lose that seat. We need to change the law so that the Legislature is not given the final word on this type of issue. Otherwise the party in charge will always win the seat.
