Mad Ants’ plummet continues vs. Nets
The Mad Ants lost their seventh straight and ninth in their last 10 games, 128-123 to the Eastern Conference-leading Long Island Nets in front of 942 fans at Nassau Coliseum in Uniondale, New York, on Wednesday night.
Jovan Mooring made 10 of 24 shots for 28 points, and he added seven assists for the Mad Ants, who will attempt to get back to winning at 7 p.m. Friday at Memorial Coliseum against the Lakeland Magic.
The Mad Ants (19-24) trailed the Nets at halftime, 66-58, and then Long Island took control with a 30-23 third-quarter run.
The Mad Ants outscored the Nets 42-32 in the fourth quarter, but it wasn’t enough.
Edmond Sumner returned to the NBA’s Indiana Pacers before the game and Davon Reed was back with Fort Wayne from the Pacers. Reed had 16 points and nine rebounds.
Fort Wayne’s Stephan Hicks had 23 points and six rebounds. Travin Thibodeaux had 18 points and 13 rebounds. Omari Johnson added 13 points.
Long Island (28-14) was paced by Alan Williams’ 28 points and 12 rebounds. Dzanan Musa had 20 points.
