Washington political hopeful to host shooting campaign event
SPOKANE, Wash. (AP) — An eastern Washington congressional candidate is inviting voters to a “shooting with the candidate” campaign event.
KREM reports that Republican Jered Gavin Bonneau plans to host the event in April after announcing it last month with a Tweet saying “We will be having some good ol’ American fun, shooting, talking of freedom and getting to know each other.”
He also used hashtags linking to the National Rifle Association and “Make America Great Again,” President Donald Trump’s campaign rallying cry.
Bonneau said he was inspired to host the shooting event because he enjoys shooting his firearms and thought: “What a great way to have a blast and meet people.”
The 31-year-old from Spokane is running against incumbent Congresswoman Cathy McMorris Rogers in the Republican primary for Washington’s 5th district seat.
