Wolski Powers Avs Over Canucks 4-1
DENVER (AP) _ Wojtek Wolski had a goal and three assists and Colorado Avalanche’s third line produced three goals in a 4-1 victory over the Vancouver Canucks on Saturday night. Linemates Mark Rycroft and Paul Stastny also scored goals, and Brett Clark added a power-play goal with 35 seconds to play.
Jose Theodore stopped 27 shots for Colorado, winners of four of five.
The Avalanche were 2-for-7 on the power play.
Kevin Bieksa scored for the Canucks. Goaltender Robert Luongo made 35 saves. He had won his previous three starts.
Theodore had to make a save on a breakaway by Alexander Burrows in the final three minutes with Vancouver short-handed.
The Canucks quickly made it 2-1, 35 seconds into the third period on Kevin Bieksa’s fourth goal of the year. Bieksa sent a slap shot through a screen from the right point past Theodore and Vancouver had the Avalanche on it’s heels in the early minutes of the period.
Wolski gave Colorado its two-goal lead back with a power-play goal at 7:29, sending a shot back into the net. Luongo had stopped a shot by Patrice Brisbois from the right point.
