DETROIT (AP) _ Sergei Fedorov’s scored his NHL-record 12th overtime goal at 4:39 of the extra session Friday night to lift the Detroit Red Wings to a 2-1 victory over the Anaheim Mighty Ducks.
The goal, Fedorov’s 11th of the season, was also his league-leading, sixth game-winning goal this season.
Fedorov’s slap shot from the high slot beat Jean-Sebastien Giguere, who made 43 saves. He had been tied with three other players with 11 regular-season overtime goals.
Brett Hull tied it 1-1 for Detroit 5:32 into the third period when he put a one-timer into an empty net from the bottom of the right circle. Luc Robitaille had carried the puck behind the net, drawing Giguere out of position, and then passed it out to Hull.
Petr Sykora put Anaheim up 1-0 with 9:53 left in the second period.
After Curtis Joseph stopped Andy McDonald on a breakaway, Sykora put in the rebound over the sprawling Red Wings goalie.
Detroit had an opportunity to tie it just over a minute later, but Kirk Maltby shot high on a 3-on-none with 8:50 left in the second period.
Joseph stopped 25 shots for Detroit.
Notes: Red Wings D Dmitri Bykov returned after missing six games because of a shoulder injury. ... Sykora has a six-game point streak (3-3-6). ... Giguere has allowed 10 goals in his last six games. ...
