Dream fulfilled for Leonard Compton

May 28, 2019

Sunday was a special day for Leonard and Faye Compton. Not only did they celebrate their 70th wedding anniversary, but through an organization called Don’t Stop Dreamin, a dream was also fulfilled for Leonard.

His dream was to have an anniversary party for family and friends at Rest Assured Living Center, Meyersdale, where they are both residents and he is under hospice care. A part of his dream was this photo — he requested that a picture be published in the newspaper for their special day.

The couple married in the Reformed Church in Cumberland, Maryland, and have two children, Gary and Glenda (Steve) Johnson, four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Leonard is a World War II Navy veteran, worked on the railroad and owned a lumber yard.

Don’t Stop Dreamin’ is a nonprofit that fulfills dreams within the Quality Life Services nursing and personal care homes and Three Rivers Family Home Health and Hospice in Western Pennsylvania.
