Officer involved in shooting identified
The Fort Wayne police officer involved in the shooting on Saturday in the 1500 block of Production Road has been identified as Larry L. Teague Jr., a 22-year veteran of the department, a statement from police said today.
Teague, a B-shift detective, has been placed on paid administrative leave.
Teague was off-duty and working a part-time assignment when he was approached by Anthony Wayne Lincoln, who lifted his shirt to display an authentic-looking pellet-style handgun tucked into his waistband, police have said.
They have said Lincoln began to remove the weapon while standing at the officer’s door. Fearing for his life, police have said, Teague drew his weapon and discharged it, striking Lincoln.
The shooting remains under investigation.
