Mary P. Edwards-Gay, 69, town of Lewiston/Portage

Mary P. Edwards-Gay, 69, town of Lewiston/Portage, died Monday, July 30, 2018, at Tivoli with her family by her side.

Mary was born in Brooks, on Feb. 12, 1949, to Kenneth and Eva (Marshall) Walker.

Her childhood was spent making lasting memories on her family farm.

Mary loved spending time with her family. She was so proud of her boys, and her grandchildren were the lights of her life. Mary and her siblings remained very close and she loved her time with them. Mary and her husband, Gale, enjoyed spending time together caring for their home and traveling. She especially loved taking trips with him to South Dakota. Mary spent most of her adult life working for Rayovac, where she formed so many lasting friendships. She loved kids and when she wasn’t raising her own, she was often helping to raise others. She always had a caring and generous heart.

Mary is survived by her husband, Gale Gay, of Portage; children, Troy (Joanne) Edwards of Shawano, Chad (Lana) Edwards of Endeavor, Jana (Tim) Rhode of Brookfield, Bob (Chris) Gay of New Berlin; grandchildren, Matthew, Nicole, and Nathan Edwards of Shawano, Remington, Paige, and Marlo Edwards of Endeavor, Payton and Tyler Rhode of Brookfield, and Emily Gay of New Berlin; siblings, Jean (Wayne) Edwards of Pardeeville, Bob (Joann) Walker of Wisconsin Dells, Lois (Keith) Weyh of Portage, Bonnie Carlin of Portage, Dave (Martha) Walker of Westfield, Don Walker of Oxford; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be given to the family to purchase a bench for the cemetery in memory of Mary.

A private family graveside service will be held at noon Sunday, Aug. 19, at Briggsville United Methodist Cemetery. A celebration of Mary’s life will follow at 1 p.m. at the American Legion Post 329 in Briggsville.
