NEW YORK (AP) _ Jason Feeley hit five of Long Island University’s eight free throws in overtime and finished with 26 points as the Blackbirds defeated St. Francis, N.Y., 80-78 in a Northeast Conference game Monday night.
Solomon Abel’s jumper with 17 seconds remaining in regulation for the Terriers (7-8, 1-6 Northeast) tied the score 70-70. Feeley put the Blackbirds (5-9, 2-4) ahead for good, 74-72, with two foul shots 2:22 into the extra session.
Robin Dickerson, who added 23 points and 10 rebounds, gave LIU its biggest lead in overtime at 77-73 on a jumper with 1:18 remaining.
Robert Bailey’s jumper with 43 seconds left cut the lead to 77-75, before Feeley’s two free throws 17 seconds later put the lead back to four.
St. Francis cut the lead to one on a basket by Abel and a free throw by Abdu-Allah Torrance with seven seconds left. Another foul shot by Feeley accounted for the final score.
Bailey led St. Francis with 22 points and nine assists.
