83-year-old Salem woman victim of hit-and-run
SALEM, Mass. (AP) — Police are looking for the vehicle they say fled the scene after striking and killing an 83-year-old Salem woman crossing a street in front of her home.
Feliksa Mieszczanska (FILL’-iss mish-STAN’-skee) was pronounced dead at a hospital after being struck just after 9 a.m. Saturday.
Police say they are looking for a dark-colored car, possibly a Honda or Mazda, seen speeding from the scene toward Swampscott.
It didn’t even leave skid marks.
The vehicle likely has some front end damage.
Family members remembered the victim as a devout Catholic who loved gardening. In fact, they think she was crossing the street to dispose of weeds she had pulled from her vegetable garden when she was struck.
