Borrelli’s marijuana testing bill blocked by Democrats
State Senator Sonny Borrelli’s bill to test medical marijuana for mold and agricultural chemicals was met with opposition by Arizona Democrats. Borrelli said in a news release Friday that he was “at a loss why the minority would band together to stop this safety measure.”
He argued the legislation, Senate Bill 1137, would have prevented harmful chemicals from being used in medical marijuana. The bill passed through two Senate committees, but required a three-fourths majority support in the Senate because it deals with a voter-protected measure, Borrelli said. Despite universal support from Republicans Senate members, no Democrats voted for it, Borrelli said.
