HILDA STUTLER

HILDA STUTLER , age 95, of Burlington, N.C., died November 5, 2018, in Twins Lakes Community. She was a native of Graham County, N.C., a daughter of the late James and Naomi Marcus Jenkins. Her husband of 60 years, Ralph E. Stutler, predeceased her in 2005, as well as her sisters, Thelma Blalock, Lenna Dick, and brother, Lyle Jenkins. Surviving her is a daughter, T. Ann Stutler of Raleigh, N.C.; sister, Faye J. Martin (Roy) of Burlington, N.C.; nephew, John Dick, nieces, Karen Martin, Kimberly Rider (Wade), Claudia Blalock; seven great-nephews, two great-nieces and Roxanne Hicklin, who was like a second daughter to her. Mrs. Stutler graduated from Mission Memorial Hospital in Asheville, N.C., in 1944 and practiced as a registered nurse in North Carolina, Indiana, West Virginia, using her skills in surgery, private practice, Public Health, Red Cross Disaster and as an advocacy member for Nursing Advocacy Members. She enjoyed volunteering at Bread Basket, Habitat for Humanity, Girl Scouts, and numerous church and civic activities. She was formerly a member of the Beverly Hills Baptist Church in Huntington, West Virginia, Jonesboro Heights Baptist Church in Sanford, N.C., and Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Raleigh, N.C., and currently was a member of the Davis St. UMC of Burlington, N.C. Memorial Service will be at Davis St. UMC in Burlington, N.C., with distribution of ashes at a later date at the family cemetery in Stecoah, N.C. The service will be held on Sunday, November 25, at 2 p.m. Visitation with the family will begin at 1 p.m. preceding the service.
