GHS girls soccer tops Stamford

Two goals from sophomore Sophia Bastek lifted the Greenwich High School girls soccer team to its first win of the season on Thursday — a 2-1 triumph against host Stamford.

Bastek’s two goals gave the Cardinals (1-6-1) a 2-0 first half lead. Junior Claudia Caruso assisted on both goals. Junior goalie Clay Garrett made six saves for Greenwich.

Chanille Assevero had Stamford’s goal. Adrianna DelTorto stopped 12 shots for Stamford (0-6). Greenwich is in action again on Saturday against Norwalk at 12 p.m. at Cardinal Stadium.
