Boeing Confirms $1.5B Jets Order
SEATTLE (AP) _ Continental Airlines has ordered 15 Boeing 737-300 jetliners in a deal worth about $1.2 billion, Boeing Commercial Airplane Group confirmed Thursday.
Continental had previously announced it intended to order the jets, which are to be delivered from late 2001 through mid-2003.
The 757-300, which entered service in March 1999, is a stretched version of the 757-200. Continental currently has 41 757-200s in its fleet. It plans to use the new planes on domestic routes that require additional capacity.
The 757-300 can carry 239 passengers in two classes, with a range of 3,990 miles.
