Man Struck by Train, Killed in Wilmington
WILMINGTON -- An unidentified male was killed Saturday when he was struck by a train while trespassing on the Lowell Line of the MBTA Commuter Rail in the area of 790 Main St., according to Transit Police.
Emergency crews were called to the scene for a report of someone struck by a train about 7:30 p.m., according to a press release.
The man, whose age and identity were not immediately released, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to a Transit Police press release.
The man was trespassing on the railroad right of way when he was struck by an inbound train on the Lowell Line, according to police. The train had no passengers at the time of the incident, police said.
Transit Police detectives and the Middlesex County District Attorney’s Office are investigating the incident. Foul play is not suspected, according to police.
It was not immediately clear how the incident impacted rail service on the Lowell line Saturday night.
