Police: Special officer shoots man at Baltimore drug clinic
BALTIMORE (AP) — Police say a man suspected of dealing drugs outside a methadone clinic in Baltimore was shot in the arm and is expected to survive.
News outlets report that Baltimore Police Detective Jeremy Silbert says the 26-year-old was confronted by two special officers Monday outside the clinic run by BD Health.
State Police spokesman Ron Snyder tells The Baltimore Sun that it is unclear what led to the shooting. The man was inside a car when at least one officer shot him in the arm. Neither officer was injured.
Neither state police nor Baltimore police have oversight over special officers, who are commissioned by the governor and authorized to exercise police powers on the properties they’re hired to guard.
