Guy Fieri of ‘Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives’ filming again in S.A.
Food Network star Guy Fieri was back in San Antonio Wednesday and filming at the Smoke Shack on Broadway. This reporter saw the red 1967 red Chevy Camaro SS convertible with the California “FLVRTWN” license plates driving down McCullough Avenue.
And Fieri posted a photo on his personal Instagram account of him sitting on top of a Texas longhorn while filming in front of the Smoke Shack and Smoke Shack Meat Market. The properties, and the The Pig Pen bar in the back, are owned by Chris and Kate Conger.
All this evidence that can likely mean only one thing: Food Network personality Guy Fieri is on the hunt, looking for his favorite “Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives” in the Alamo City.
Based on the history of his previous visits to San Antonio for “Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives,” it is unlikely that the Smoke Shack is Fieri’s only San Antonio-area stop. According to the list of early 2018 stops, three Wilmington, N.C. restaurants and three Tucson, Arizona restaurants were spotlighted.
San Antonio has been featured regularly on Fieri’s popular road show, which first launched in April 2007. He last visited in June 2017, filming a segment at La Panadería’s newest location on Houston Street.
Other San Antonio-area restaurants that have been featured throughout the years include Beto’s on Broadway, Bun ’n’ Barrel, Dough Pizzeria Napoletana, El Bohio, Moroccan Bites, Taco Taco Cafe, The Cove, The Magnolia Pancake Haus, Texas Pride Barbecue and Tip Top Cafe.
