WILMINGTON, N.C. (AP) _ Characters in the television series ``Dawson’s Creek″ have graduated from high school, but they will keep returning to the city that provides the backdrop for their fictional lives.
Producer David Hartley said Thursday the WB teen drama will continue shooting in Wilmington for at least one more year.
The show stars James Van Der Beek, Katie Holmes, Joshua Jackson, Michelle Williams and Kerr Smith. Several of the stars said they would like to move filming to a larger city. Among the locations scouted by the show’s producers were Baltimore, Boston, Chicago, San Diego, Toronto and Vancouver.
``Dawson’s Creek″ spends around $1 million filming each of its 20 to 23 episodes each season. Moving production from Wilmington would have an economic impact similar to a factory shutting down, said regional film commission director Johnny Griffin.
