DENVER (AP) — Authorities have identified the bystander killed in a shootout last week in downtown Denver that left four people injured.
The Denver Post reports the Denver Coroner’s Office says 59-year-old Terrance Wardlow was pronounced dead at the scene following the Nov. 19 shooting in a neighborhood of new apartment buildings, restaurants and bars near the Colorado Rockies’ stadium.
According to federal court documents, the shootout involved members of warring groups within the Crips gang.
Denver police have arrested 24-year-old Joshua Hayward on suspicion of first-degree murder in Wardlow’s death. Hayward is being held in the Downtown Detention Center.
They also arrested 23-year-old Dashae Eugene Armstrong, who was among the people injured, on a felony charge of possession of ammunition.
