Dominion Energy executive to speak Monday at Florence County GOP meeting
FLORENCE, S.C. – Dominion Energy’s Charles Donato will present his company’s case tonight at the monthly meeting of the Florence County Republican Party.
The meeting is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. at the Eddie Floyd Center on the Carolinas Hospital System campus. Light refreshments will be served at 6:30 p.m. The meeting is free to attend.
Dominion, a Richmond, Virginina, electric utility, has proposed a merger with SCANA, the holding company of SCE&G, which provides power to central, southern and southwestern South Carolina. Dominion agreed to purchase SCANA after SCE&G abandoned construction of two nuclear reactors at the V.C. Sumner Nuclear Station in 2017.
Most of northeastern South Carolina is powered by Duke Energy.
Donato, the external affairs manager for Dominion, will be at the meeting to explain the plan, the ways in which it can benefit customers and to answer the community’s questions about the plan.
