With about nine weeks until the start of early voting, U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz and his Democratic rival Beto O’Rourke are planning a weekend packed with campaigning in South Texas.
Cruz starts his campaigning at 2:30 p.m. in Pleasanton at Cafe Chris about 40 miles south of where Beto O’Rourke is set to hold a rally of his own in San Antonio. O’Rourke’s event is at 11:30 a.m. at the Rock Box in San Antonio.
From there, both campaigns head south. Cruz will hold a rally at a VFW post in Alice while O’Rourke heads to Laredo for a “Musica con Beto” event.
On Saturday, O’Rourke will be walking neighborhoods in Laredo to start the morning while Cruz heads for Corpus Christi for a town hall. Later O’Rourke plans to be in McAllen for another “Musica con Beto” event while Cruz travels to Victoria.
Cruz has no events scheduled yet for Sunday, but O’Rourke will be in Alice.
Both Cruz and O’Rourke have been using August to campaign nearly non-stop as the prepare for their Nov. 6 showdown. Early voting n the race begins Oct. 22.
