India 41-0 at stumps on day 1 of tour match

WHANGAREI, New Zealand (AP) — India was 41-0 in reply to a New Zealand XI’s 262-9 declared at stumps Sunday on the first day of a two-day tour match.

Ishwar Pandey took 3-42, Ravichandran Ashwin 2-45 and Ishant Sharma 2-58 as the India test attack warmed up for the first of two tests against New Zealand starting Thursday.

Opener Robert O’Donnell top-scored for the New Zealand XI with 80, while Jono Hickey made 45.

Murali Vijay was 19 not out and Shikhar Dhawan 16 not out at stumps for India in the match which continues Monday at Cobham Oval.
