Patricia A. Hughes, 85, of Columbus died July 29, 2018, at Columbus Community Hospital.
Mass of Christian Burial is being held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 2, at St. Isidore Catholic Church in Columbus, 3921 20th St. Visitation is being held from 3-5 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 1 and continues from 9:30 a.m. until service time, all at the church. A 5 p.m. vigil is being held Wednesday following visitation hours. Interment is being held at St. Patrick Cemetery in Battle Creek.
Patricia was born Dec. 3, 1932, in Plainview to Harold and Mercedes (Slobodny) Harmon. She grew up in Plainview. Patricia graduated from Norfolk High School in 1951 and attended Norfolk Junior College.
She married Howard Hughes on Nov. 27, 1952, at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Battle Creek. They moved to Columbus in 1966. Along with raising her family Pat helped her husband in their New York Life Insurance Agency. She was a member of St. Isidore Catholic Church, Christian Mothers and Columbus Area Right To Life. She was a devoted mother and wife and enjoyed spending time with her family.
Pat is survived by her husband, Howard Hughes of Columbus, daughter Linda (Dan) Kuhlen of Olathe, Kansas; son Paul (Victoria Marshall) Hughes of Columbus, son John (Gina) Hughes of Lincoln, son David (Anna) Hughes of Omaha, daughter Susan (Bob Searle) Skinner of Wagoner, Oklahoma; daughter Sharon (Jim) Karmann of Albion, son Richard (Beth) Hughes of Mesa, Arizona; brother Ron (Carolyn) Harmon of Missouri, 13 grandchildren 16 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Mercedes Harmon and grandson Jed Skinner.
In lieu of flowers and plants, memorials are suggested to Make-A-Wish, St. Isidore School-music department and Columbus Right to Life.
