DENVER (AP) _ The Colorado Avalanche recalled goaltender Marc Denis from the club's AFL affiliate on Monday, a day after starter Patrick Roy suffered a groin injury.

Roy was hurt in Sunday's 1-1 tie against the Dallas Stars. His condition was listed as day-to-day.

Denis was first recalled from the Hershey Bears this season on Dec. 26. He appeared in four games for the Avalanche and posted a 1-1-1 record in three early-January starts.

The Avalanche host the Vancouver Canucks on Tuesday night.
