UNDATED (AP) — Miami is back at No. 2 in The Associated Press college football poll, the Hurricanes’ best ranking since 2003. The undefeated Hurricanes jumped five spots from No. 7 after routing Notre Dame on Saturday. Alabama remains No. 1 after taking 57 of 61 first-place votes, Oklahoma is third and Clemson stays No. 4, followed by Wisconsin, Auburn, Georgia, Ohio State, Notre Dame and Oklahoma State.

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Tennessee has fired football coach Butch Jones with two games left in the regular season, a move that comes after Saturday’s 50-17 loss to Missouri. The Vols began the year among the AP top-25, but they’ve dropped five of their last six games to fall to 4-6. Jones went 34-27 overall and 14-24 in the SEC over five seasons.

AVONDALE, Ariz. (AP) — Matt Kenseth won for the first time this season, taking the checkered flag at Phoenix Raceway in what might have been the second-to-last Cup race of his NASCAR career. Kenseth passed Chase Elliott with 10 laps remaining, denying Elliott the final berth in next week’s championship race. Elliott’s runner-up finish allowed Brad Kezelowski to become the fourth challenger for the Cup championship at Homestead.

BOSTON (AP) — The Boston Celtics are an NBA-best 12-2 following their 12th straight win, a 95-94 decision over the Toronto Raptors. Al Horford scored 21 points on 8 of 9 shooting in his first game since missing two straight due to a concussion. Raptors guard DeMar DeRozan had a game-high 24 points but missed a potential game-winning shot in the closing seconds.

PHOENIX (AP) — Kevin Sutherland won for the first time in 78 starts on the PGA Tour Champions circuit, taking the Charles Schwab Cup championship in Phoenix. He also claimed the $1 million season title after entering the season finale ranked fifth in points. Sutherland closed a 5-under 66 for a one-stroke victory over Vijay Singh (VEE’-jay sing).
