Kidnap crew member sentenced to 13 years in prison

LAWRENCE, Mass. (AP) — A New Hampshire man has been sentenced to 13 years in prison for his role in a sophisticated kidnapping crew in Massachusetts that targeted drug dealers to secure large ransoms of drugs and cash.

Thomas Wallace was sentenced Wednesday by a federal judge in Boston after pleading guilty to conspiracy to commit kidnapping back in 2014.

Acting U.S. Attorney for Massachusetts William Weinreb says the arrest of the 29-year-old from Raynham stemmed from a wide-ranging investigation into violent kidnapping and home invasion crews operating around Lawrence, Massachusetts that are sometimes referred to in Spanish as “joloperros,” or “stick-up guys.”

Wallace was part of a crew that involved at least six other men, two of whom have already been handed lengthy prison sentences and four who are still awaiting their sentence.
