W-B Area Made It Difficult For People To Attend Meeting

April 16, 2019

Editor: On April 6 in the legal notices section, the Wilkes-Barre Area School District announced that there would be a Special Meeting for General Purposes on Tuesday, April 9 at 1 p.m. This vague notice was buried in the back of the legal notices section. The notice was put in the paper only three days before the meeting was to take place. The time of the meeting, 1 p.m. on a Tuesday, was inconvenient for almost anyone. Why was a special meeting necessary to discuss general purposes? It seems to me the Wilkes-Barre Area School District made it very difficult for people to attend this meeting. It also seems the Wilkes-Barre Area School District doesn’t want the public to be involved. The Wilkes-Barre Area School District is blindly pushing forward with its ill-fated plan to spend $187 million of taxpayer money just to satisfy the egos of most of the Wilkes-Barre Area School District board members. This meeting notice further cements the fact that I have zero confidence in this school board to make rational decisions in the best interest of our students, community, and taxpayers.
