Salvation Army taking Angel Tree program applications

HUNTINGTON — The Salvation Army Huntington Corps will accept applications for its Angel Tree Christmas program Sept. 25-27 at its location at 1223 3rd Ave.

Angel Tree is a personalized holiday assistance program in which an individual sponsor or group sponsor purchases new clothing and toys for a child in need.

Applicants with last names beginning with letters A through M should apply from 10 a.m. to noon and 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 25. Applicants with last names beginning with letters N through Z should apply Wednesday, Sept. 26, during the same hours. Those who cannot attend either of these two dates can apply from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 27. Applicants are asked to enter through the double white doors along the middle of the building.

Applicants must bring a photo ID for adults in the household, Social Security card or birth certificates for all family members, proof of income and proof of expenses. Child custody papers are required for children in the applicant’s care who are not the applicant’s birth children. Shot records can be used as replacement for birth certificates.
