NORMAL, Ill. (AP) _ Jabarey McDavid rushed for 150 yards and scored a touchdown Saturday, leading Eastern Illinois to a 25-14 win over Illinois State.
McDavid got 54 of his 72 first-half rushing yards on a scoring drive that ended with his 15-yard TD run in the second quarter.
Illinois State (2-2) took the early lead, but Eastern Illinois (3-1) controlled the ball in the second half. Eastern Illinois ran 86 offensive plays to Illinois State’s 60.
The Redbirds’ defense, which had forced seven turnovers in each of its last two games, recovered just one fumble and had no interceptions.
The Eastern offense outgained Illinois State 539-255 in total yards.
The only second-half score was a 27-yard field goal by the Panthers’ Chad Larner with 11 minutes left in the fourth quarter.
