Man gets 18 months for impregnanting teen
BRIDGEPORT — A 21-year-old city man was sentenced Tuesday to 18 months in prison after he pleaded guilty to sexually assaulting a 15-year-old girl he met over social media, getting her pregnant and giving her a venereal disease.
Hasan Khalid, of Spring Street, pleaded guilty to two counts of fourth-degree sexual assault and one count of reckless endangerment.
He was sentenced by Superior Court Judge Frank Iannotti to three years, suspended after he serves 18 months in prison and followed by three years of probation.
The judge also ordered Khalid to register as a sex offender and to undergo sex offender treatment.
In a statement read to the judge, the girl said Khalid ruined her life.
Police said in 2017 the girl complained that she had tested positive for both being pregnant and having chlamydia and that she had been sexually assaulted by Khalid.
The girl said she had been contacted by Khalid over social media and agreed to come to his home to “chill,” police said.
But police said that when the girl got to Khalid’s home he pulled her clothes off and sexually assaulted her. She said he laughed as she tearfully protested the assault.
Police said when the girl later told Khalid she was pregnant he again laughed at her.
When officers confronted Khalid with the girl’s allegations, police said he responded: “Well, I have a lot of girls, like all the time, but I never met any girl by (the victim’s name).”
Police said the girl terminated her pregnancy.
