CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) _ Radenko Dobras scored 22 of his 28 points in the second half Saturday, leading South Florida to a 70-63 Metro Conference victory over No. 22 N.C. Charlotte.

Dobras, a Yugoslavia native who converted five 3-pointers in the second half, keyed a decisive 17-5 run that gave South Florida (13-9 overall, 2-6 Metro) a 56-46 lead with 4:10 left.

Reserve forward Daryl DeVaull, who had 22 points and 12 rebounds, capped a seven-point rally for N.C. Charlotte with a short jumper to trim the deficit to 56-53 with 2:25 left.

After Dobras hit a fallaway jumper and free throw, Charlotte (16-6, 4-3) drew no closer than six points.

The first of Dobras’ five second-half 3-pointers came with 14:26 left in the game, giving the Bulls took a 39-30 advantage.

Charlotte responded with an 11-point rally, capped by Malru Dottin’s follow that gave the 49ers a 41-39 lead with 11:32 remaining. The Bulls then went on the 17-5 run, ending with Dobras’ second straight 3-pointer from the right wing.

Bobby Russell scored 11 points for the Bulls, who made nine of 10 free throws in the final two minutes to clinch the victory. Gary Alexander added 10 points and 13 rebounds.

Despite a 4-for-15 field goal effort, Charlotte guard Henry Williams scored 12 points to become the school’s all-time leading scorer with 2,150.
