Salina man charged after cat beaten to death
SALINA, Kan. (AP) — A Salina man is jailed after police said he beat a cat to death and threw it in a garbage can.
KSAL reports police Sgt. Jim Feldman says 56-year-old Randy Harris was sitting on his front porch Thursday when he began hitting the cat and threw it in the trash.
Feldman says that the cat was later found dead inside the trash can.
When officer later saw Harris driving and tried to arrest him. Feldman says Harris resisted arrest, grabbed the officer by the shoulders and tugging on the officer. The officer eventually was able to arrest Feldman. He wasn’t injured, but his uniform was damaged.
Harris has been charged with cruelty to animals, interference with law enforcement, battery of a law enforcement officer and criminal damage to property.
