MOBILE, Ala. (AP) _ South Florida squandered a 21-point lead, but Radenko Dobras hit the go- ahead basket with 1:04 remaining as the Bulls held on to beat North Carolina-Charlotte 73-68 in the Sun Belt Conference tournament quarterfinals Saturday night.

Dobras led third-seeded South Florida (18-9) with 21 points and Gary Alexander added 16.

South Florida scored the final five points of the game after UNCC (14-13) pulled even at 68 on Henry Williams’ 3-pointer with 2:58 remaining. Dobras hit a baseline jumper, then the Bulls sealed the victory on two free throws by Dobras and one by Alexander.

South Florida shot 56 percent from the field in building a 45-31 lead at the half, capped by Dobras’ 3-pointer at the buzzer.

The margin increased to 54-33 with 17:44 left in the game before the 49ers rallied behind Williams, who scored 16 of his 24 points in the second half, and Delano Johnson, who came off the bench to score 15 points and hit a pair of 3-pointers.

Bobby Russell scored 10 points for South Florida and Jarvis Lang had 10 for UNCC.

The Bulls advanced to the tournament semifinals against seventh-seeded Old Dominion, which upset Alabama-Birmingham 94-88.
