Behavioral Health Specialists Inc. welcomes Jay Fleecs as the new executive director. Jay was previously director of Human Resources at Norfolk Iron & Metal for 22 years. Jay and his wife, Brenda have lived in Norfolk for 28 years and they have three children Andrew, Jaxson and Kaitlyn.

“Brenda and I adopted Jaxson and Kaitlyn, 12, and 10 years ago, respectively, and there have been struggles during this time because of their mental health. Leading an agency with an impeccable reputation in behavior health is a honor to me and my family and I look forward to the challenge,” Fleecs said.

“We are excited to have Jay Fleecs as the new executive director for his strategic leadership and to provide growth opportunities for Behavioral Health Specialists,” said Adam Thompson, Board of Directors president.

Jay is replacing Connie Barnes, who retired from Behavioral Health Specialists. Connie has worked for BHS for over 30 years as a drug and alcohol counselor and the executive director for over 20 years.

“Connie is the foundation of BHS and we appreciate her dedication. I wish Connie the best in her next chapter of life,” Thompson said.

Behavioral Health Specialists provides integrated behavioral health services of outpatient mental health and substance abuse, short term residences in Norfolk and Columbus, community support, and foster care.
