Over the last two weeks of the football season, a pattern has -- in some respects -- developed between the St. Bernard’s and Lunenburg football teams.

In Week Two, the Bernardians welcomed Monty Tech to the Bowl, and the Blue and Gold efficiently walloped the Bulldogs, 48-8. For Week Three, Monty Tech welcomed Lunenburg to the city line, and the Blue Knights were victorious over their hosts, 33-8.

While LHS took on The Tech, St. Bernard’s made the drive up to Templeton to take on Narragansett Regional. And behind eight touchdowns, the Bernardians were victorious over the Warriors, 56-28.

For Week Four, Narragansett ships up to Lunenburg for a key Division 8 game.

A Lunenburg (3-0) win over the Warriors (2-1) would set both the Blue Knights and Bernardians as two of the top two teams, record-wise, in Central Mass. Division 8. Before playing St. B’s, Narragansett struggled against Central Mass. doormat Quaboag Regional, only knocking off the Cougars, 12-6, in Week Two.

Narragansett will need to try and slow down the Blue Knight running game, while Lunenburg’s secondary will have to be ready for the passing game when the Knights and Warriors tangle tonight at the Veterans Memorial Turf Field beginning at 7 p.m.

In other Friday night games in the coverage area:

Leominster (0-3) will have a tall task on its hands again as the Blue and White will travel to Assumption College to take on Shrewsbury (3-0) in a tough Mid-Wach A/Division 3 contest, which will begin at 7:30 p.m. The match was moved from Saturday to Friday, and was moved from Shrewsbury as its new turf field is not yet ready for play.

In addition, St. Bernard’s will travel to Archbishop Williams, Nashoba (3-0) will host Marlboro, Oakmont (1-2) will travel to Maynard (3-0) to play Harold Ogilvie’s Tigers, and Ayer-Shirley (3-0) hosts West Boylston (3-0) -- that last one should be huge.

On Saturday, Monty Tech (0-3) will travel to Charlton to take on Bay Path (2-1) beginning at 7 p.m., while Fitchburg (0-3) will look to get on the winning side of the ledger against resurgent North Middlesex Regional (2-1) at Westford’s Nashoba Tech beginning at 7 p.m.

In addition, Gardner (0-3) will host Murdock (2-1) at Stone Field beginning at 1 p.m.

Other games in the area of note: Quabbin Regional will look to make it two in a row as the Panthers travel over to Clinton tonight, Bartlett tangles with Northbridge, and Southbridge will host David Prouty in an old Border Conference tilt.
