Cops: West Newton man drove drunk in crash that claimed victim’s arm
State police are looking for a West Newton man who allegedly was drunk when he crashed in South Huntingdon last month, causing his passenger to lose an arm.
Jamie Lee Converso, 35, was charged Saturday with aggravated assault by vehicle while driving under the influence and other offenses. Police said in a news release that the crash occurred at 12:28 a.m. July 3, 2017 on Fitz Henry Road.
Converso allegedly was speeding. His female passenger told police she “begged and pleaded for Converso to stop the vehicle and pull over,” but he ignored her, troopers said in the release.
She was trapped in the crash wreckage. Police said she ultimately lost her right arm.
Anyone with information about Converso’s whereabouts is asked to call state police.
