DENVER (AP) — Authorities say one person is hospitalized after a small plane crash near Centennial Airport south of Denver.

The Denver Post reports (https://goo.gl/qtObYD ) the plane crashed just south of the airport just after 3:30 p.m. Saturday. The other person on board was treated at the scene.

The plane struck trees as it crashed in an office building parking lot that was empty on the weekend afternoon. South Metro Fire Rescue tweeted photos of the aircraft resting upside down with one wing broken off.

South Metro spokesman Eric Hurst tells the Post that the National Transportation Safety board is investigating the crash.

Hurst says other small planes have crashed in the same lot and areas south of the airport over the years.
