Elizondo services to be broadcast live
Catholic TV San Antonio will be broadcasting the rosary and funeral Mass for late Bexar County Commissioner Paul Elizondo.
Elizondo, a mainstay on Commissioners Court since 1983 and one of San Antonio’s major power brokers over the decades, passed away Dec. 27. He was 83.
Catholic TV will air the rosary live from San Fernando Cathedral starting at 7 p.m. tonight and will also be carrying the funeral Mass live starting at 10 a.m. Thursday, according to the county.
An email from the county also said the funeral procession will depart Porter Loring Mortuaries at 1101 McCullough Ave. about 9:30 a.m. Thursday and go north on McCullough to East Cypress Street. It will head west on East Cypress to North Laredo Street, and continue to Frio and up Buena Vista. It will proceed on Buena Vista and unload at San Fernando Cathedral.
After the church service Thursday, the procession will leave the cathedral and head east to St. Mary’s Street and turn turn south onto St Mary’s, heading up to Nueva and turn west on Nueva.
The hearse will stop on Nueva in front of the Paul Elizondo Tower for a short time before proceeding south on South Flores to Guadalupe Street, where it will then head west to San Fernando Cemetery #2.
