Dance to raise funds for Veterans

September 24, 2018

Warriors United will host a benefit dance to raise funds for the continued assistance they provide to local veterans and is looking for companies, groups, organizations or individuals interested in sponsoring the event.

The Veteran’s Day benefit dance will be held Nov. 11 at the Amigoland Event Center, at 1010 Mexico Blvd. Music will be provided by Tejano artist Marcos Orozco and DJ Gilbert Fasal.

The funds raised will go toward continued efforts that include providing money to cover emergency burial costs, wheel chairs, walkers, hospital items and clothing for veterans unable to afford them. The funds will also be used to help veterans with travel expenses and transportation to receive medical treatment at out-of-town medical facilities as far away as Houston. In addition, funds will be used for utilities, food and groceries to veterans and veteran’s widows in need.

“ We are a small group and we don’t receive outside funding,” said Tony Garcia, president of the group. “We count on the generosity of the community to support our fundraisers so that monies we raise can allow us to continue in providing the greatly needed services our veterans needs.”

Organizers also hope to raise money that will allow them to acquire a building veterans can go to and gain assistance.

Tickets can be purchased for $25 per person at A&V Lopez Market, at 3831 Boca Chica Blvd., and Café Amiga, at 644 Palm Blvd.
