College of Charleston 82, Florida International 53
CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) _ Patrick King scored 18 points and Thaddeous Delaney added 16 to lead the College of Charleston to an 82-53 victory over Florida International in a Trans America Athletic Conference game Monday.
The Cougars gained a 14-2 lead on King’s 8 points. The Cougars shot 65.5 percent from the field on the way to a 44-20 halftime advantage.
College of Charleston (15-5, 8-1) opened the second half with a 17-6 run to build their biggest lead of the game at 61-28. Roland Cruickshank posted 13 points in the final 13 minutes.
King had three 3-pointers, while Delaney hit 8-of-11 field goal opportunities. The Cougars shot 55.9 percent from the floor and had 22 assists.
The Golden Panthers (4-14, 1-8) were limited to just 30.2 percent from the floor and committed 18 turnovers.
Delaney, Cruickshank, Marion Busby and Stacy Harris paced the Cougars with five rebounds each. Marcus Woods added seven assists.
Florida International were led by Brian Davis and James Eason who scored 10 points each, while Zhivago Nicolls added nine rebounds.
