Stolen car chase ends in five arrests
FAIRFIELD — Five suspects are in custody after they crashed into police cruiser in a stolen car early Monday morning, police said.
Police said the incident occurred around 4:15 a.m. when they noticed a car speeding on West Way Road.
When police began to pursue the vehicle, it allegedly pulled some erratic maneuvers and momentarily lost the officers. When officers next spotted the car, it was driving toward them on Pequot Avenue, at which point the car swerved into the cruiser and struck it head-on on the driver’s side.
Three of the five suspects in the car attempted to flee on foot, but were rounded up with the help of a Westport police K9 unit.
Some of the suspects were later transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injures.
The suspects, all of which came from Waterbury, were comprised of four young adults and one juvenile.
Police said the juvenile in the incident was also involved in a stolen car chase in Westport last week.
The identities of the suspects and their charges will be revealed later this afternoon.
