NEW YORK (AP) _ Stock prices have opened lower. The Dow Jones Industrial Average is down 31 points in today's early going. Losers on the New York Stock Exchange hold a 2-1 lead over gainers.

The Nasdaq Composite Index is down 36 points and the S&P 500 Index is down nine points.

Today's early selling is centered once again in the high-technology sector.

Analysts say the group is in the midst of an ongoing correction after having soared to new heights since the market made its October lows.

Even though Dell Computer's earnings matched Wall Street estimates, and Hewlett Packard's earnings were better than expected, both stocks tumbled in after-hours trading.

Bond prices started out weaker today, but have since moved higher, after word that industrial output held steady last month.
