CHARLESTON — Traffic delays are expected for the next month-and-a-half in the eastbound lanes of Interstate 64 in Kanawha County due to scheduled roadwork.
According to the West Virginia Department of Transportation, important road repairs and resurfacing will start Monday evening along a 4.5-mile section of 1-64 in the eastbound lanes between Nitro and Institute.
The nighttime work will be ongoing from 8 p.m. to 7 a.m. Monday through Friday and from 7 p.m. to 10 a.m. Saturday and Sunday.
The project is expected to last through mid-November. It will provide base failure repairs, milling and resurfacing of the interstate roadway, as well as the Cross Lanes on and off ramps.
The project will be completed by West Virginia Paving, who was awarded the contract with a bid of $7.72 million.
