Body found on Yakama Nation reservation a homicide victim

October 27, 2017

WHITE SWAN, Wash. (AP) — Authorities say the body of a man found on the Yakama Nation Indian Reservation last month was a homicide victim who remains unidentified.

The Yakima Herald-Review reported Thursday Yakima County Coroner Jack Hawkins said an autopsy determined the man found in Medicine Valley near White Swan died of stab wounds to the chest.

The remains were recovered Sept. 18, but Hawkins said a date of death could not be established due to the condition of the body which he said had been there for a long time.

Hawkins says DNA samples have been sent to the FBI to determine if he is a man who was reported missing last year.

FBI spokeswoman Ayn Dietrich-Williams in Seattle said the bureau is pursuing leads, but said it would be inappropriate to discuss them.
