September 25, 2018

CHELMSFORD -- The Police Department welcomed two new officers with local roots to its ranks this past weekend.

Officers Kaleigh Yuan, a Chelmsford native, and Riley O’Keefe, a Westford native, graduated from the Northern Essex Community College/Methuen Police Academy on Friday.

“I have no doubt that Officers O’Keefe and Yuan will both make immediate contributions to our community through their work,” Police Chief James Spinney said in a Monday statement. “I want to congratulate them on successfully completing the rigorous academy, and formally welcome them to the Chelmsford Police Department.”

Yuan graduated from Chelmsford High School and earned a bachelor degree in criminology from Merrimack College in North Andover.

O’Keefe graduated from Westford Academy and earned a bachelor degree in special education from High Point University in North Carolina.

Both officers will now enter the department’s 12-week field training program.
