U.N.: 2 American U.N. Workers Held
PRISTINA, Yugoslavia (AP) _ Two American U.N. workers were being held by Serb authorities Saturday after straying across Kosovo’s administrative boundary, U.N. officials said.
The Americans, who are environmental experts, had apparently intended to travel to Macedonia for the weekend, but attempted to take an alternative route after being stuck in a traffic jam at the border crossing in Blace, said U.N. press officer Sunil Narulla.
The men, who were not identified, are being held by Serb police, Narulla said.
NATO-led peacekeepers have intervened in an attempt to negotiate their release.
